What is a 'Byte'?

A Byte is a unit used in measurement of computer storage or memory.  The smallest unit is a bit which is a one-digit binary number and always either a 1 or a 0.  A byte is a grouping of 8 bits such as 01000110.  A byte can be used to represent any number from 1 to 255 using only 1's and 0's.  The number I referenced above, 01000110 is actually the number 70.  Bytes are also used to store text on comupters, with each character such as upper and lower-case letters, punctuation and other special characters being represented by a number from 1 to 255.  So basically for every document you read or type on a computer, it takes one byte of memory to store each character.  Some other byte terms you've probably heard before are Kilobytes, Megabytes, and Gigabytes.  Another term one you will start hearing about in the near future if you haven't already is Terabyte.  Below is a chart to show you how to convert one to another.

How long does it take to create a web site?
I can usually have you a web presence up in about a day, depending on having an acceptable domain name available.  However, it will take from one to several weeks to get all of the text, links, pictures and other information in place.  Generally, if you approve of a basic template for your site's layout, I can have your site basically finished in less than 8 hours of work.  But I will need you to provide much of the content for your site, such as pictures and any text or links that you wish to have, and the site can not be finished until this content is provided.
